I don't know how to say this nicely so I'll just come out and say it. I hate this cake. Separately, the components are ok. In the words of Joey Tribiani, caramel syrup? Goooood. Brown butter frosting? Gooood. Salt? Very good. Chocolate ganache filling? Excellent. All together in a cake? Not so good.
One good thing about this challenge is the awesome caramel syrup recipe! Not only does it taste great and is super easy to make, when the water is added to the syrup it makes a sound like an explosion, loud enough to make any blood-thirsty girl happy.
On the bright side, many other daring bakers seemed to like it a lot, so maybe its just me =)

It wasn't my favorite either :) But your cake does look beautiful!
I didn't like the frosting either, but as CookiePie said - yours is very beautiful!
Veru gorgeous cake, and very sweet too :P
I love your cake! I also added chocolate to mine, but I found the same thing.
I totally did not enjoy it all together. I felt like I was in Hyperglycemic shock.
Oh well onto next month!!!
Sorry to hear you didn't like it. However, yours still looks completely beautiful - I love the chocolate ganache!
your cake is beautiful, whether you liked how it tasted or not. i'm not a huge cake fan and i always get myself psyched up that it "sounds" so good, but in actuality i'm almost always disappointed...
this one no different. as NOT SO VANILLA put it, "onto next month!"
I agree, the cake was not my favorite but I was a big fan of the brown butter icing with lots of extra caramel sauce added to it.
It does look great though... I'm sorry you didn't like the taste.
your cake looks scrumptious, sucks that all the flavors didn't come together nicely :(
